Kabali – Creating History Across the Globe

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth starrer “Kabali”, which was released amid much fan frenzy on Friday, has created history by becoming the biggest Indian opener of all time, according to its producer ‘Kalaipuli’ S Thanu.

The film, directed by Pa Ranjith, is a gangster drama that also has Radhika Apte, Dhanshika and Kalaiarasan in key roles.

Sultan is a juggernaut which refuses to stop. The Salman Khan, Anushka Sharma film has earned a gross of Rs 320 crore at the box office and is still going strong.

The net profit of Sultan in India is Rs 236.59 crore at BO and the international figures for the film are yet to come in. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that the film is already Salman’s second biggest hit ever, having left Kick behind. The big question, however, is if it can breach the Rs 300-crore mark in net domestic business. (Salman Khan’s Sultan day 9 box office collections steady, movie beats Kick’s lifetime collections)

Well, its seems that physicists in Mumbai may have unlocked a mystery!

A study by physicists Vijay Singh and Praveen Pathak from the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education has found link between Lord Shiva and Mona Lisa

The ratio of beauty appears in an old painting of Lord Shiva in Bihar

Their paper was published in the prestigious European Journal of Physics

While staring at a folk painting of Lord Shiva in Bhojpur, Bihar, the two physicists were struck by the fact that the crescent moon which adorned Shiva's head resembled a circle removed from a larger circle, with the ratio of their diameters close to 1.618, which is a rounding off of the golden ratio. It wasn't mere coincidence either.Their study suggests that the number repeatedly occurs in a class of problems involving an object's centre of mass (roughly speaking, the point where all of the mass of the object is concentrated) and may be omnipresent.

It was only in April that Indian Informer reported (See “From Mumbai to Goa” – Skating for a Cause) a story about  Rana Uppalapati, national skating champion, who skated 600 kms from Mumbai to Goa to promote the ‘Goa Going Pink’ mission.
