Google Doodle Celebrates Birthday of Pandit Ravi Shankar.

It would have been 96th birthday for Pandit Ravi Shankar on 7th April 2016, who sadly passed away in 2012.

The prime minister's office back than referred to Shankar as a "national treasure". 

Google Doodle, famous for the way it celebrates holidays, event, achievements or a special

occasion, temporarily alters its logo on Google's homepage on regular basis.

On 7th April 2016 Google paid tribute to Ravi Shankar by way of featuring a Sitar within its logo.

Born in India in 1920, Rabindra Shankar Chowdhury, is an Indian musician and composer best known for his

success in popularizing the sitar.

Shankar grew up studying music and toured as a member of his brother's dance troupe. 

After serving as director of All-India Radio, he began to tour India and the United States and collaborating with

many notable musicians, including George Harrison and Philip Glass.
